Conservative publisher and activist Andrew Breitbart died overnight.
In a brief post, [Breitbart's Big Government] website site said he died at age 43 of natural causes. His death was confirmed to msnbc.com by the Los Angeles Coroner's Office.
Breitbart, in addition to publishing a number of websites devoted to repudiating what he saw as the liberal-dominated coverage of politics and culture, once served as an editor for the Drudge Report and helped Arianna Huffington launch the Huffington Post website.
For those unfamiliar with his work and role in politics on the right, this New Yorker profile, which ran in 2010, is a good read.
Radio show host Monica Crowley told Fox News this morning Breitbart's death is "a huge loss to the conservative movement."

RIP ~ Always on the opposite side of the fence in this life but hopefully on the same side in the next ~
Saying that he died 'unexpectedly of natural causes' seems like a contradiction?
I think what they probably mean is that he passed during his sleep (his heart stopped beating, as an example), but that it wasn't due to any known illness. You are correct that as a logic statement it would seem weird, but when they talk about it as such medically I am pretty sure they're saying the person died w/o it being the result of some long-term illness and w/o it being due to foul play.

Who will fund Andrew O'Keefe now ?
Who will sling the mud?
Who will make stuff up to slime Obama?
Oh the Humanity.
Really? Whether you agreed or disagreed with him or thought he was a total tool, did you really have to post your "comment" only hours after his death? Classy buddy, real classy. And to the folks that voted an "up" arrow" for this comment....never mind, it is expected here I guess.
I was no real fan of Breibart but I did watch/listen to him as I would a few of the extreme commentators from the left - to get the view from ALL angles. He was part of the strange world of 24 hour news/opinions.
RIP Andrew.
Everything he preached, tweeted, wrote, screamed, spoke, sung or mumbled I disagreed with, but he was an interesting guy to talk/argue or tweet with.
43 is just way too young for someone to die. My thoughts go out to his family and his 4 kids.
He was an arse, but he was a gloriously unrepentant arse writ large.
He seemed like a very unhinged angry man. It's a tragedy really. He's a young man leaving behind children, a wife, and loved ones. The hatred we feel in our hearts ultimately will kill us, not them. Not worth it.
RIP, Andrew.
I disagreed with basically everything he said, and despite that I think it's a shock. My thoughts to his wife and children, to his friends and family.
I think hatred eats a person from the inside out....
My introduction to Breitbart came when he trashed Shirley Sherrod. My Gram always told me to never speak ill of the dead, so I'll end here.
It is not just in Hollywood that you can invent yourself, and then play the role for an entire lifetime.
Don't be ridiculous. Nobody could possibly have loved such a pathetic excuse for a human being. The man was certifiable, and the whole world is better off without him, especially his children, who won't have to be subjected to his insanity and venom.
Shortly after Ted Kennedy's death, Breitbart called him a "pile of excrement." Allow me to return the favor on Ted's behalf.
I hope he's in a happier place and hopefully a happier state of mind if that's possible.
Breitbart's legacy is to have illustrated that the traditional media now gives almost anybody a platform who is provocative enough...anybody, that is, who is a conservative.
IOKIYAR
Dead huh. So? I mean he was a joke in life anyway. For me to pretend to care would make me ill.
I don't have a lot of nice things to say about the guy, but it always makes me sad when someone who's done so much damage and hurt so many people in his life passes without having any sort of moment of clarity where he realizes the pain and damage he's inflicted on others and actually attempts to make amends for it.
So many thoughts came to mind...but I will not speak ill of the dead, nor make a joke at his expense.
