Today's edition of quick hits:
* President Obama spoke earlier today on the newly-announced housing settlement with banks.
* For more on the new policy, I found pieces from Sarah Halzack and Sarah Kliff, Matt Yglesias, and Felix Salmon helpful. Also check out Greg Sargent's interview with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (D).
* Greek leaders have reached a tentative deal on new austerity measures in exchange for a bailout.
* Violence in Syria rages on.
* The House version of the STOCK Act passed with overwhelming support, but there are key differences between it and the Senate bill.
* Pentagon rules restricting women serving in combat roles are being eased.
* A thoughtful piece from Jonathan Cohn on the contraception fight, most notably on the distinction on ownership of health insurance. Read Gail Collins on this, too.
* When Gov. Chris Gregoire (D) signs marriage equality into law, the state of Washington will be the seventh in the nation to allow same-sex marriage, but only the third to do so without judicial intervention.
* In the latest "We Can't Wait" initiative, the White House today announced a new measure on combating Alzheimer's disease.
* I've always liked Jon Chait's meanness.
* Europe really does make a lousy bogeyman for the right.
* Rick Santorum seems serious about this "guillotine" stuff. Odd.
* And for the record, teleprompter jokes aren't funny, but they're especially inane when they're being read from teleprompters.
Anything to add? Consider this an open thread.

Wall Street screws us again.
Nonsense. We just won the first round and set a very important legal precedent that banks can be held accountable for stealing your house. Go look up Rachel's interview with NY AG Eric Schneiderman or read Sargent's interview with him.
For the issue parades for Veterans of the Iraq War. Assistant Sec. Douglas Wilson's comment quote of a Vet saying, "Parades are rediculous when suicides of vets exceed the combat casualties..."
Parades granting Vets a sense of self worth for what they have done will reduce suicides by their very act. I have been studying veteran suicides for more than 30 years and have a case for intervention at the U S Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (Bray v Shinseki, 2012-7005)
I would like to email the producer of the Rachael Maddow show a copy of my argument and filing for consideration of a segment of the Rachael Maddow Show.
I hope he reads this and will contact me at the email address given or call me at 951 240 5485 any time after 2:00 PM EST.
Good thing, since women have been serving in combat already.

It's so cute that Steve still thinks we need permission and/or encouragement. He'll learn.
Also, Cal Thomas is an ass.
Rachael showed a video of a CPAC panel member wishing her parents had used birth-control to prevent her birth and then wished that for all of MSNBC. I am not so sure I will be in Heaven but I would love to see these people trying to get in.
No puny cars, no short skirts? Dang I misinterpreted the header again.
Thank you science! My cousin has early onset Alzheimers and I see great hope where there was none!
