To play moral politics with the lives of women at the behest of the most vile and irrational politicians and activists is troubling for such a noble organization. The Komen organization must restore funding for these vital services immediately, or face real consequences regarding their credibility. That a national charity with the level of support and name recognition as the Komen organization could be so tone deaf and so beholden to fanatical anti-choice activists is mind boggling. Charities should not be allowed to interpret the Constitution as they see fit. http://www.sunstateactivist.org
Too late. The recent scandal has exposed the seriously political side of Komen & brought to light their rather shameful & egregious greed. We all now know how little of the huge amounts of money collected & earned by this organization actually go to research & other worthwhile ventures. We now know how incredibly overpaid their executives are. Many of us have long pondered the necessity for the enormous amount of PR, collateral & licensed merchandise, etc. that make up the "brand."
The only way they could possibly continue on a scale anywhere near to where they have been would require a complete reorganization at the executive level, a very public apology for having wandered so far from their original mission & beliefs, & a vow to remain transparently apolitical in the future.
I personally would feel less scruples about donating to Jerry Sandusky at this point.

Thank you so much, Rachel, for your piece last night on Obama's faith. Dionne was the perfect guest for that topic and gave it his usual thoughtful treatment. But most I appreciated your willingness to tackle this issue, to highlight this dimension of Obama's person and the dichotomy between the content of his faith and that of conservative activists. There are a number of us out here who share the kind of Christian faith that Obama has -- a faith that drives us to seek social justice and care for those in need.
