Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* Floridians saw thousands of television ads as part of the state's Republican presidential primary. How many of the spots were positive Mitt Romney ads? Less than 0.1%. Wow.
* Newt Gingrich, who led briefly in Florida a week ago before facing a barrage of attack ads, did not call Romney to congratulate him last night.
* Romney will get Secret Service protection this week. He'll be the only GOP candidate with this level of security.
* Rick Santorum's campaign has struggled of late, but he managed to raise over $4.2 million in January.
* The Romney campaign has already picked up quite a few endorsements, but it's reportedly looking for support from Michele Bachmann.
* Rep. Allen West (R) will switch Florida districts this year in the hopes of remaining in Congress.
* The songwriter who penned "Eye of the Tiger" is suing the Gingrich campaign for improper use of his song.
* In Hawaii's U.S. Senate race, new polling shows former Gov. Linda Lingle (R) struggling against her Democratic opponents.
* And in Florida, Florida's former Republican Gov. Charlie Crist acknowledged yesterday he may support President Obama and would consider running for office as a Democrat.

Late Breaking: Boss Limbaugh opens his show today by saying to his sheeple, "Our team is not that good. You know it and I know it."
Gee, maybe your team took to many of their cues from you Rush?
Crist would be a Senator today if he'd had the brains to switch parties early in 2010.
LIKE this fun range of interesting items....
Didn't Governor Romney state in the NBC debate with Brian Williams moderating, that while at Bain, he created thousands of "middle class jobs" at companies "like Staples"? If he thinks that sales, copy and computer retail associates positions which pay $8-$13/per hour are "middle class wages", he is woefully out of touch with the average American household!! I haven't heard anybody pick up on this statement!! Thanks!
Imagine that, the man who thought ten grand was pocket change also thinks ten grand is a decent half years wage.
Who did Robme anger?
And can we please vote Batman out of office? Gingrich
The Penguinis getting on my nerves.I may be dumb.I may be crazy. I might be zonkers even but you lost me with this post.I'd call Adam West for an explanation but the Bat phone seems to be out of order.
On Allen West and running in the new district: can he legally do that? Doesn't he have to have lived there first for a certain period of time?
You mean there are rules to this? To be honest I've heard of a lot of rule breaking where candidates never actually live in their district but simply buy property there.
Sort of like the way we have students in Charleston that "own" small parcels of land inside an area served by the charter school they want to attend.
We seem to live in a world where rules are meant just for the other guy.
Karger challenged Romney before he ran for President and again when he ran (though the Board of Elections refused to pursue it). It just seems like West can't flip districts like this without residing there first. I'm just asking because I don't know.
I'd like to see a definition of "negative ads." They were close to a discussion of this on the Morning Joe show today before Joe Scarborough drowned it out with a torrent of bluster. There are factual ads that are critical of a candidates' views or deeds and then there are lying ads that attack the candidate personally. And a bunch of stuff in between. They could all be termed "negative," but to different degrees.
The PPD is pretty good at staying unobtrusive, but I can so see Gingrich playing this in the "Mitt Romney, man of the people" theme.
That's gonna leave a mark.
Mitt should live in the Cayman Islands with his money, Newt should live on the moon with his..delusional-ness.. problems = solved.
i've heard rumors that mitten's secret service code name is "the-guy-who's-going-to-lose-to-obama." true?
Taxpayers shelling out to protect Millionaire Mitt's tookus already with secret service? What's wrong with him hiring his own, I hear Xe's good for throwing around some bullets if the need arises. And when it doesn't. Maybe they'd accidentally do a Cheney on Noot if he gets too close to the birds, per say. I need more coffee...
