If the Republican establishment is freaking out over the growing specter of a nominee named Newt Gingrich, then maybe they'd ought to find someone else to run. Hey, how about that guy in Indiana, the one who almost threw his hat in, Governor Mitch Daniels?
“At this point it’s sort of water over the dam,” said Pat Kiely, president of the Indiana Manufacturers Association and a friend of Mr. Daniels. His decision to sit it out is “one that will always be in the back of the mind of the governor who thinks after watching the debates and the first three primaries that he could have been a contender.”
Tonight Governor Daniels is delivering the GOP response to President Obama's State of the Union address. Whether that's as close as he gets to a Daniels vs. Obama matchup in 2012 will be a story for the rest of 2012 to answer. The New York Times points to several hints of a movement to draft Mr. Daniels, including the RunMitchRun.com petition site screengrabbed above.
I've got a message in, but for now the news is that we know very little about it. "RunMitchRun.com is not connected to any candidate or campaign, current or prospective," reads the tagline. "The purpose of this petition, which was created by a single voter in Virginia, is to demonstrate to Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels that the number of Americans who would prefer him to the current field of candidates is more than sufficient to justify the effort."
The cry from the conservative soul was registered on January 19, before Newt Gingrich won the South Carolina primary and date he made a second debate audience love him. The conservative Daily Caller cites a Daniels insider as saying the governor won't be running.
(On the show: The great establishment freakout over Newt Gingrich)
(And: Indiana labor's ad against Governor Daniels set to run nationally -- including on our network -- after he talks.)

After seeing the GOP governors attempts to destroy the Unions, their over-reach in denying voters their rights, and their gross support by the 1%, why the sheeple still want to remain within the GOP is an anathema to me!! Americans really have been dumbed down, sniff, sniff!!
Daniels like Huntsman are testing for 2016, as they know things getting better and moving forward, all be it slowly and that's do mostly to congress (we all know who i am talking about).
Daniels seems smart enough to see the damage the teapublicans over reach has done.
Daniels would fit nicely in the current clown car, so why not?
Please Draft Bush's Budget Director so he can fix the deficit.
FACEPALM
Maybe there's an inverse-perception circuit in the right-wing brain that kicks in whenever they look at a screw-up from their own team.
This guy is even more pathetic than the candidates you currently have. First of all, he's Bush's former budget director. Yes, THAT Bush, the one we're still paying for. Secondly, he's antagonizing the labor movement in Indiana, did he learn nothing from seeing what happened to Kasich and Scott Walker? Then of course there's his strange marital situation, I won't even elaborate on that.
Yes please ,Indiana, the state I live in is not not enough please allow the entire country to become this screwed up! I mean does no one know what he did at IPL?
Oh, my.

I am more interested in what the Player's Union does at the SuperBowl. The networks are going to try not to give it coverage at the behest of their sponsors. But they cannot stop the players from saying anything when the cameras are rolling, especially after the game. This could prove to be more embarrassing to Daniels because this will be nationwide coverage.
Ah. Mem-o-ries. Who remembers Steve Largent's response to Bill Clinton's State of the Union address, where he bragged about not even knowing what "GOP" stood for until after he got elected and a member of his own party explained it to him?
Come to think of it, militarize that kind of proud ignorance and you get the Tea Party.
Now its 2012. And presumably Daniels is going to be harping on the disasterous excesses made possible by the Red Flood of 2010 and ignore just how badly the Republicans have injured themselves with the public.
Know-Nothingism never gets old.
Another fear mongering wretch with the brain of a gnats ... Face it fellows your mask is gone and the delusion of your paranoia revealed for what it is. You are puppets of the one per-centers,trolls of corporate lobbyists and even the fox viewers will awaken to see the clowns that have played on their fears and prejudices.Heated hubris works well until reason takes charge
obummer will go down as the worst president ever.He is as big a crook as there is,people that vote for him must be totally brain dead.PEOPLE that knock large corporations must remember thats where a lot of high paying jobs come from.
Does anyone else smell TROLL? I'm sure some billie goat will come along and stomp its butt out from whatever bridge it is hiding under.
yes it is, re-reg cult troll.
One on slab judging by the grammar, capitalization and punctuation.
What country have you been living in? Nobody is knocking the big corporations, just pointing out how their profits have esculated at an increasing pace while our middle class is going to be obsolete. They want to reduce their taxes and remove all regulations. They theorize that the economy is just cycling and that we should just let it hit bottom and then, due to the wonders of free enterprise and capitalism, it will rise from the dead because they lowered taxes and deregulated. Government sent the economy into a demise, I think they need aid from the gov't to help repair it. Why didn't they worry about the deficit when we were fighting 2 wars, had reduced taxes for 10 years, and didn't budget funds for Medicare D?
