Chutzpah (Pr: hoot-spa; English: more ba**s than brains; Spanish: batto):

• Claim that tax-free royalties and dividend payments create more jobs than yachts.
• Claim tax increases reduce employment when history proves the opposite.

Sp: employee payroll is tax deductible, but you cannot use that deduction if you pay no tax (i.e.: corporate taxes stimulate job creation).

Failure to understand this analysis is sign that you lack the prerequisites required to have a headache (i.e.: gullible).

• Eliminating "job-killing retirement" by outlawing social security.
• Outlawing "job-killing health care" that allows disabled elderly to retire.

Sp: prohibiting retirement and universal health care increases employment by preventing disabled people from leaving the job market.

• Elect white-supremacists governors, representatives, and senators using the "one term president" strategy without telling the public about your plans until after you get elected.
• Sign a "religious" pledge to support bigotry, then openly admit that you did that in public.

Sp: Don't wear white bed sheets in public because that is no longer "cool", but use code-phrases like "one-term-president" to describe African Americans so you can recognize each other without letting the cat out of the bag.

• Create a national emergency by walking out of budget negotiations while banks are threatening to jack-up the interest rate if you do that again.
• Kick out the "job killing Mexicans".

Sp: there are 40 million illegal aliens that create $100 billion economic cash flow (i.e.: stimulus). Deporting all of the Mexicans will leave 10 million unoccupied residential dwellings and 2 million unoccupied businesses, which will collapse the banking system (i.e.: depression).

But then again ... that may be ultimate goal of the Tea Party.

There are deeper issues here, as I note some of our regulars have pointed out: RobDon, for one. People often mispronounce unfamiliar words...that's true. We ought not to slap them around too much for it. BUT and it's a great big BUT...a serious politician doesn't use an unfamiliar word like "chutzpah" to pander to a voting block unless he/she knows how to pronounce it. Pandering to voting blocks is serious business; one doesn't undercut oneself needlessly.

About like eating a slice of pizza with a knife and a fork. Despite the gesture, you could care less about the people you are trying to impress - and it shows.

I am Jewish and know to spell Yiddish words in the Roman alphabet which is the alphabet English uses. Yiddish on the other hand actually uses the Hebrew alphabet when it is printed in its native tongue. I purposefully misspelled the phrase "mishugana shiksa" to make an obviously not recognized comedic point.

I'm gonna (reluctantly) give Bachmann a pass on this one because it seems just a wee bit too petty...

Thanks for the sanity. Not too long ago President Obama mispronounced army corpsman. Do I think he is a dumb guy? Not by a long shot. This type of "gotcha" is childish to me.

Where's the sexism here? She's stupid and crazy. That's not even name-calling, it's observable fact. She has no business in the public arena, and certainly not in politics. The fact that she's running for President is an insult to the seriousness of the office.

it's the implication that she should be muzzled, like a dog. equating humans with animals to indicate they are somehow "lesser than" has long been used against women, people of color etc.

i'm not arguing that she does have business in politics, she clearly doesn't, for any number of reasons. but there are tons more ways to point that out other than falling back on crude jokes like "someone outta muzzle her".

i just think it was in bad taste, and i expect better from the contributors to this blog, if not the commentators.

I didn't think writing Muzzle Tov instead Mazol Tov was sexist at all. I think you're really reading into things that aren't there. I thought it was the common mistake as (as myself a person of Jewish heritage) that goyim (persons on non-Jewish heritage) make when trying write words phonetically in Roman script that were originally written in a non-Roman script alphabet like Yiddish which actually uses a Hebrew alphabet script for its written words.

That said, for Michele Bachmann to completely so mispronounce a word like chutzpah is ludicrous at best. What?! She has no Jewish constituents?! Really?! I have cousins in Minnesota and they are not from the Puerto Rican side of my heritage. I found it very silly and condescending for her to mispronounce a often used word by non Jews like chutzpah.
