Let's see how we can make Rep. Weiner's behavior about the Republicans and anyone else but Mr. Weiner himself.
Rep. Weiner must be FOR lying and AGAINST wedding vows, because if that is not the case then he would be a hypocrite because he spent days lying to everyone and hurt the person he says he loves the most. Good thing he's not a hypocrite like all those Republicans!
Weiner like everyone else in D.C. is a politician whose main job is to get reelected and hold that seat as long as they possibly can - because as soon as they no longer hold the seat they know longer have the power and perks they all crave.
But - anyone who demands Weiner's resignation without also demanding Vitter's resignation (just to start) is also a hypocrite of major proportions...
Rob-306572
A) Who is demanding Weiner's resignation? (Other than RNC chair)
B) Isn't it hypocritical of TRMS to cover only the hypocrisy of the Right? Looks like if the story is the hypocrisy of those in Congress, you can find it on both sides of the aisle in spades.
Ms. Maddow, Will, Sarah, et. all:
I was just thinking of something regarding this whole Anthony Weiner story coverage. Please excuse me if I am out of place with my observation and I certainly do not mean any offense or disparaging remarks towards the TRMS staff.
I was watching either Stewart or Colbert tonight ahead of the new South Park episode and one of them played a clip of some newscaster saying, "Well we meant to talk about the budget tonight and the events playing out in Libya as we speak, but we got carried away with the Anthony Weiner story. Here's some more of that story as we wrap up." It's not a direct quote, but you get the point.
At Anthony Weiner's press conference Whats-his-bart usurped the podium to make a few statements before Rep. Weiner came out. And at that press conference as Weiner was taking questions, someone shouted out, "Will you support Arnold Schwarzenegger's lovechild?" Press reporters heckling a speaker.
And I have to ask: Is this what you spent money on in college to become journalists? Is that what it took for you to get your journalism degree? Are these the standards that are being taught?
Because it sure looks to me that I could become a reporter/journalist these days as I am right now, without any formal schooling. Heck, I'm sure the pay is really good and the benefits are much, much better than anything I can currently get. I can sit at a desk with two people and say, "Here's the topic. What do you think about it and what do you think about it?"
Are there ethics in journalism? Are any set of ethics being taught? What are they, specifically, from when you learned them? If lawyers can be disbarred, elected officials impeached, doctors... have their license revoked ( ? ), can journalists have their license-equitable-validation publicly, acknowledge-ably, taken away?
I say this not out of spite to any one person or network (all networks, in one way or another, have erred) but as a sense of journalistic integrity towards the practice of research, fact-finding, vetting, relevance, and list-of-significance of topics despite however complex the issue is or how nonsensational the topic may be. If all that journalistic integrity has for its-self is the trust of self-policing or by third-party media watchdogs, then what is the state of the news? Is that the state of reporting Tom Brokaw learned and presented?
Do we want to accept a state of news-reporting that, universally, chooses sex (salaciously scandalous or not) over that which affects a greater-by-far portion of that population? Just, as a citizen trying to stay informed on what affects me, what am I suppose to make of The News which prioritizes what I need to know and I'm supposed to trust to make that decision?
Just one more thing (R): The difference between Ms. Maddow's work and everything else, everywhere else, is her lining up the Republican Hypocrisy so boldly and centered; even under the "Really BIG Government" segments (Stay strong, Michigan, from a Wisconsinite). I am ashamed of almost everyone else in the news, this week, for telling me that the Anthony Weiner story is more important than everything else that could possibly be happening in the world.
Thank you, TRMS staff, for your diligence and hard work.
As I understand things, the majority of reporters are NOT jounalists. They are reporters and there are no set "ethics". Journalists do have and for the most part follow their code of ethics.
Drew, you need to make sure you facts are straight before you develop you theory...
Minor correction
Other journalist encouraged Brietbart to take the podium because they were asking questions of him and many could not hear. This is widely reported by the other journalist there.
Major correction
That wasn't a reporter. It was someone from the Howard Stern Show. Again, widely reported, try Goggle.
There should be nothing wrong with those outside the "news" industry having inquisitive minds enough to ask questions. Not all have the time to google and research everything reported. That makes us more reliant on those sources we do have some trust in.
... and ty Larry.
I completely agree. That means if you find you are getting incorrect information (like Breitbart on his own just took over the press conference or that a reporter heckled Rep. Weiner) then you need to look for a new source.
That posted tweet raised so many questions for me. But I know better now, so... carry on.
The Larry Flynt interview was the most awesome interview ever, down to Rachel's twitter-pated, giddy excitement at the end.
-Also thank you again for not focusing on Sarah Palin.
Humility is a virtue, but Sgt. Matayoshi is wrong here. He's a hero.
What's going on here? The article said this was at a CA home?

I am proud to be an American with soldiers like Rocky in our midst. And I don't say that lightly.
PS: Drew, as an actual trained journalist with a degree to prove it, I can guarantee that this is not a good career choice for someone looking to make money. It ranks in salary near nonprofit work. It's also dying a slow, horrible death, so treat it kindly if it lingers on a salacious story or two.
Do you really want to know why the GOP wants Rep. Weiner gone ,but Sen. Vitter is okay?
Sen. Vitter was involved in a "Free Market" enterprise.
That's pretty funny.
My theory on the economy, and the Republicans..Since the Supreme Court made corporations humans..I still can't believe this happened..Anyway, most larger Corporations are Republican leaning. Republicans get big donations from them, and in turn they give them huge tax breaks, and pass or not pass laws on their behalf.. So right now Large Corp, and some middles size ones have a surplus of money and are not hiring. The banks are not loaning either. Even though Obama insisted we bailed them out they will lean Republican as well.
My theory. They are not hiring intentionally to put the Country in the worst shape it can be in so that a Republican gets elected, then they begin to hire, and all of the sudden the Republicans saved the country..There is no reason these companies should not be hiring.. If the country goes in a whole they will keep their overseas companies running, and close them here and pocket the excess. I don't think they care. There is no American Loyalty anymore with these companies. I do believe the Republicans would let this Country fall to save face. It is disgusting..
The entire Weiner mess is a distraction and the Republicans love it..Pass an ethics law that from this point on. If you screw around on the American peoples time, using our offices, etc that we pay for..YOU MUST RESIGN...Make Weiner and example and stops this disgusting crap that I am getting tired of hearing this week and from the prior years..These people need to be example..What you do in your own time is between you and your family. Don't be a Weiner on my time..
We have alot more things to talk about, and be concerned with right now..
I have really thought about this and I was wondering if anyone else might agree?
Totally agree. I have said that about the Republicans/corporations for 2 yrs. It's so obvious. The biggest differance now is, the people don't have the money for purchasing things, therefore, businesses are not hireing. But the short of it all, is yes, the GOP want this country in the tank for political gain. They don't care about anything or anybody that can't give them big bucks.
If business would hire people could then purchase things, and the economy would immediately show improvement, and tax revenue would increase as well as the deductions for ssi, medicaid, medicare. It is digusting, and I am glad someone agrees, because I have been thinking this for sometime now...
You are right. The republicans are sitting on their cash and won't hire before the election.
How is putting up fake candidates not election fraud?
Shouldn't this be a crime?
It is a crime. Let them run, but they should be prepared to spend up to 6 months in jail. According to Wisconsin Stat. Chapter 12 - § 12.05 False representations affecting elections. "No person may knowingly make or publish, or cause to be made or published, a false representation pertaining to a candidate or referendum which is intended or tends to affect voting at an election."
