Now that Newt Gingrich has announced his bid for the presidency, it seemed like a good time to revisit one of our favorite guests, Dawn Rizos. If you remember, Ms. Rizos is the owner of the Lodge, a thriving small business in Dallas. When Mr. Gingrich's conservative group named her an "Entrepreneur of the Year," Ms. Rizos was thrilled by the prospect of accepting the award in Washington, D.C., and the opportunity to share her views with the former Speaker.
But when Mr. Gingrich found out that the Lodge was, um, a gentleman's club, he promptly rescinded Ms. Rizos' invitation to a private dinner and returned the $5,000 she gave to his group, American Solutions for Winning the Future. Ms. Rizos was stunned. "We're a great draw for the city of Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau, and we don't have anything to be ashamed of," she told us. "I thought they really wanted to give us an award."
A true entrepreneur, Ms. Rizos then took that $5,000 and founded a shelter for homeless pit bulls called – genius! -- Newt's Nook. Advantage, Ms. Rizos.
So after all this, what does Ms. Rizos have to say about a potential President Gingrich?
"Congratulations to Mr. Gingrich. We have always applauded his ideals of personal responsibility, helping small businesses like ours, and keeping government out of our private lives.
"We're not ready to make an endorsement yet, but we would be glad to host a town hall meeting or even a fundraiser for him."
Mr. Gingrich, your base is speaking. Listen.

Just what his fine character needs, more pussy.
Sadly, I highly doubt Newtie or his fans will get it, they'll take the comments at face value.
PolitiFAIL.
Which part, the part about how the GOP raises funds by selling fake awards or the part about the "family values" GOP picking the strip club to sell their award to, then realizing that it would do far more damage to the party than it was worth, or the part about how rescending the award shows how it's really just a sham and that they were willing to sell their award to a company they obviously didn't know the first thing about??
The current line-up of Republican candidates for the presidency is a disgrace. Two of them- Trump and Gingrich- are in it for the money. Others- Palin, Huckabee, Romney- are ignorant publicity hounds. Bear that in mind when Republicans claim Clinton disgraced the presidency by squeezing tits in the Oval Office. Now watch Republicans use a presidential campaign as nothing more that a profit-making business venture.
I know, right! The repukes need to take a lesson in honesty and morals from our Democrats! They're only in this for the people! Power to the people!
eap1 will not find many on this forum or any other that will speak highly of Democrats.
But Covah don't you know that if you disagree that must automatically mean you're a partisan hack? Can't be because of facts- it has to be because you blindly follow Democrat's talking points /nods
ref "blindly follow Democrat's talking points"
1. Usual psychological projection as wingers assume we are like them and know only follow-the-leader
2. "False equivalency" if you criticize Republicans you must be a rabid far leftist whose heroes are Pol Pot and Kim Jong-il.
Who knows...maybe he can find wife number 4 or 5 or 6 or 7... at the same time!
Hey, Cindy Hampton isn't doing anything at the moment. Just sayin'. Might be a chance for a hookup there.
OH Boy here we go again..... I have so much to say... but OMG tooo much energy.... I have faith and trust that the American people are smart enough not to vote for a person such as Gingrich.... If your gonna vote Republican, how about Mick Romney...
Wish I could share your faith in the U.S. republican primary voters...I fear he and other "non-presidential" hopefuls are doing more harm just by their crazy talk! They speak to unstable minds at home and stir hatered and distrust abroad. Let's hope for level headed persons to win the day.
What's a synonym for "hypocrite"? Why, Newt, of course!
How is he a hypocrite?
You're kidding, right? Mr. Family Values was cheating on Wife 1 with Wife 2, and who asked Wife 1 for a divorce while she was in the hospital for cancer; then there was the cheating on Wife 2 with Wife 3 for months before he actually told her and filed for divorce. And now he's Mr. Super Catholic, apparently disregarding all this previous transgressions because of course now he's HOLY. And then there was the matter of financial improprieties while he was in Congress .... Do you read??
Really eapI
Really, back that up.
LOL....You can't be that ignorant eap1. Get your head out of your Bush, I mean butt.... Prove her wrong....Hope your not busy the rest of your life.
John you are going down the rabbit hole- just be careful what you wish for.
How is he different from John Edwards or Bill Clinton? Why don't you say that stuff about them?
Financial improprieties? He was cleared of all that by the IRS.
What I'm hearing you say is that he acts like all liberals think people should and then you're condemning him for it. It's amazing how judgmental you get when it's the other guy.
Did he commit perjury like Clinton? You guys are doing a really good job of rewriting history.
eap1 I assume by your comments that you may be a Faux sheep so here is a piece you may believe.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,258001,00.html
Just google his name and open your eyes and mind.
So what he had an affair. You guys are insane. Democrats can do whatever they want and it's ok. He has an affair and it's the end of the world.
You guys are the hypocrites here.
eap1....we call that projection
I don't think you know what the word hypocrite means... See, the word hypocrite means to say one thing and do another. So while Newt was saying that he was all about family values, he was doing the exact opposite. While what Clinton and Edwards did was just as bad, they were never claiming to be all about family values. Hence the reason Newt is a hypocrite AND a liar/cheat while the others are just liars/cheats but not hypocrites.
The following is an excerpt from an Esquire magazine interview with Marianne Gingrich, his second wife, who had just discovered his affair with Callista.
He asked her to just tolerate the affair, an offer she refused.
He'd just returned from Erie, Pennsylvania, where he'd given a speech full of high sentiments about compassion and family values.
The next night, they sat talking out on their back patio in Georgia. She said, "How do you give that speech and do what you're doing?"
"It doesn't matter what I do," he answered. "People need to hear what I have to say. There's no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn't matter what I live."
If this is not the definition of a hypocrite I don't know what is. His picture should appear next to the word in the dictionary.

Now that Trump seems to have disappeared its good that we have Newt for some comic relief. Funny, I'm always hearing about what an "idea man' he is, but every time I see him he's just prattling on about some insane nonsense like "secular socialism" and "secular fascism". He's also very fond of invoking the name of Hitler at every opportunity. Its funny/sad to see a man who truly doesn't realize how irrelevant he's become.
OK, eap1, bill clinton had his day (weeks, months, years) in court because the republican party wanted every blow-by blow of bill clinton's affair. the republican party hated bill clinton, and wanted to bring him down over a blow job. he lied about a blow job. big deal. the republican party spent millions of tax dollars trying to bring a president down because he lied about a blow job.
the john edwards case is still open, and he may be in some trouble using campaign funds to support his girlfriend. we will find that out. it took over two years to get to the bottom of the ensign affair.
the hypocrisy on the right is worse than we thought, given the actions of several republicans over the past few years. foley, soliciting sex from pages on capitol hill. larry "wide stance", "i am not gay i have never been gay" craig, who solicited sex from an undercover cop in a twin cities airport bathroom. the ensign affair, and what is the name of the republican who put a shirtless picture of himself on facebook? there are others.
the hypocrisy of newt is that he led the republican party in the effort to bring bill clinton down over a blow job, while he himself was having an affair with his now wife.
surely you see the hypocrisy. he had 3 affairs.
that we know of.
I don't see what the Republicans did to Clinton as any worse than what the Democrats did to Clarence Thomas. The big deal with Clinton is he perjured himself to prevent himself from being convicted of a sex crime.
All of these politicians claim they support "family values."They're all hypocrites. I don't see him as any more of a hypocrite as any of the other politicians but it seems like everyone here is willing to give a pass to the Democrats. They're all crooked! They're all hypocrites!
I do have a question for everyone though. Earlier this week, someone told me not to bring up Clarence Thomas because it was so long ago. Why is it ok to bring up this then? It's been over a decade. Doesn't anyone here believe in redemption? Or is that only reserved for liberals?
@ perro, is that like Al Gore telling us to live green and flying a jumbo jet and having a house that produces more green house gases than most neighborhoods? They're all hypocrites. Don't just single him out because he's a Republican, there's plenty of blame to go around.
Hot dog! (perrocaliente)
Standing ovation! Exposing the Newt hypocrisy and mega-ego in one blow!
I love it when "intellectuals" can't produce anything more valid than a red herring....
"The big deal with Clinton is he perjured himself to prevent himself from being convicted of a sex crime."
What sex crime is that?
"what the Democrats did to Clarence Thomas" which was what? Anita Hill made accusations of her own free will and with nothing to gain.
"So what he had an affair. You guys are insane. Republicans can do whatever they want and it's ok. Clinton has an affair and it's the end of the world. You, guy, is the hypocrite here."
There, fixed it for you.
Covah, you're right! Clinton is a saint! He's never acted inappropriate with a woman. It's the vast right wing conspiracy!
Clarence Thomas on the other hand is a monster! He has no right being on the supreme court!
What sex crime is that? What did the Democrats do to Clarence Thomas?
Still waiting.
What sex crime is that? What did the Democrats do to Clarence Thomas?
Still waiting.
Sexually harassing Paula Jones, is that not a sex crime? Did you seriously not know that?
There is NO EVIDENCE that Clinton harassed Jones. In fact she denied being harassed when the charge was first made by David Brock who has admitted being a right-wing fabricator. Read his Blinded by the Right
"The lawsuit was dismissed before trial on the grounds that Jones failed to demonstrate any damages." -wiki
Susan McDougal went to prison for 22 months for refusing to cooperate with Starr's clown show. Republicans play mean and they play dirty.
Dude Covah you knew Eap was full of @!$%# when he accused Obama of adultery. Just let eap whine to the wind. DNFT
i'm confused. i thought moral laws impose more government in the private lives of the people.
Miss Carrie-Anne: you have to kind of go with the flow here. This is the Zen of TP politics...one hand clapping and all that. If you can keep both these ideals of less government in your private life and more moral laws to impose the Christian fundamental Sharia law upon all the rest of us...you win the coveted Brown Shirt of Enlightenment!
eap1, it's different because neither Clinton nor Edwards claimed to be returning the country to a (Contract for America) higher moral standards. Unless one thinks it is perfectly moral to commit adultery.
Liberals don't believe in morals so why does it matter?
Barack Obama - adulterer
Bill Clinton - adulterer
Martin Luther King - adulterer
Albert Einstein - adulterer
JFK - adulterer
Benjamin Franklin - adulterer
FDR - adulterer
John Edwards - adulterer
Michael Jordan - adulterer
Muhammad Ali - adulterer
probably your parents - adulterers
You're all right, you can't trust an adulterer. This post is so self righteous.
You are not listening, Newt claimed to bring moral superiority. I am not self righteous, just pointing out hypocrisy of the situation.
I must now show my contempt to you for calling my parents adulterers~!
I knock the dust off my shoes and turn away. From now on eap :|
ignore for you
1st: "liberals don't believe in morals"
That's incorrect. People that disagree with you are not immoral.
2nd: That liberal or democratic politicians participate in immoral, unethical, or illegal activity does NOT excuse Newt Gingrich. Nor does it mean that I and others can not legitimately point out New Gingrich's immoral, unethical, or illegal activities.
So if the "liberals do it too" is the extent of your argument in support of Mr. Gingrich, I'm not sure that there is much more to say.
And 3rd: "your parents - adulterers"
This is intentionally inflammatory and a personal attack, accordingly I have reported your post to newsvine.
Well I would like to go in about how eap doesn't know the difference between blogs and newsites (regarding things like "Obama's adultery") but in reality it's just a red herring claim. Truth is eap1 is just attempting to scapegoat from the conversation as opposed to discuss the issue at hand.
The issue here is that people are upset w/ Gingrich for committing immoral acts during his marriage, while simultaneously denying gays their right to marriage because he believes in upholding the very morality he violated.
My parent comment is intended to illustrate that most Americans are adulterers.
Depending on which study and when, you get different results on the prevalence of adultery/infidelity. While highest finding is 50% of people are unfaithful, most surveys and research find a significantly lower number (around 30%) and some find a much lower prevalence (13%).
Most means the majority, or the greatest extend or degree. Even if we accept the highest estimate of 50%, that is not the majority.
"most Americans are adulterers" is an incorrect statement.
So you're saying that the studies are not reliable? Maybe it's because people aren't telling the truth when asked. If only ten percent are lying that makes 55% who are cheating. Regardless, even if it's split down the middle that means that you're almost certain to have a partner who's cheated if it's not you.
how about a white t-shirt that says..
i bet you i'll get that before my free toaster.
John, Mickey and sandy: DNFTT!
Carrie-Anne: you mistook my "brown shirt" reference...I was thinking "fascists."
Carolinalady, sometimes it fun to play with a troll. They are so invested in their own beliefs that they are fascinatingly tragic...it's like watching Jerry Springer, horrible but somehow you can't change the channel.
Though you are right, of course. I shouldn't.
"Republicans don't believe in morals so why does it matter?"
Fixed it for you.
no, i got the fascist 'brown shirt' reference. i just had to add my own take of first-hand witnessing such a thing. :)
You're right Carolinalady, but I have a hard time letting a lie or insult go. TT is ignored as of when I said it.
@JustHop, Newt is more of a pussy than the ladies at the lodge. I can just see his fat ass in a debate in that joint with lap dancing during commerical breaks. Go Newt, you lying, cheating sob.
Oh boy here we go again.... I have faith and trust that if Amercian people must vote for a repuking that they will look at Mick Romney...
Sadly, I highly doubt Newtie or his fans will get it, they'll take the comments at face value.
Newt has the morals of an alley cat so he should feel right at home with strippers. Correction---the strippers have more morals than Newt who has none.
I started to type 3 or 4 different comments, but I couldn't avoid the lewd double entendre. Consequently, I will only say this.
I can only hope that Newt doesn't succeed.
Perhaps if it was a "gentleman's club" that specialized in comforting men whose wives were dying of cancer, Gingrich would have felt more at home with the business.
In Newt's world his success is your success. He must hang others so that he can succeed and once in power he must do everything he can to stay in power. Just by being in power it will make America better. He will then make those who're like him more powerful, which again just by doing as such it will make things better for the rest of the country.
People tip their hats to who they really are on the inside w/o trying. Just look at their actions and you learn right away who they are. Don't care if you're a Republican or not- Newt Gingrich doesn't give a @!$%# about you. People kept complaining that they wanted change from in 2010 because he didn't deliver on his promises of change. They did so be re-electing people who had been voted out or by voting people that had histories of corruption- such as Rick Scott. If you really want change you have to stop being an idiot and start looking at the cards people play. If someone tips their hat that they are corrupt NEWS FLASH don't vote for them. I don't understand why this is so complicated for the average voter to get across. Corruption comes because you don't demand accountability. You are lazy, stupid, and forgetful and because of that Newt Gingrich now thinks he can win a presidential run......
...it's either that or Newt is just completely out of his gorram mind
In law school they teach you rhetorical techniques to create arguments on either side of any issue. A lawyer is paid to prosecute or defend regardless of actual guilt. A person who enjoys cranking out arguments on any subject would be paid well by the moneyed class to create justifications that boost their power. Read Contract for America. It consists entirely of specious arguments designed to stiff the needy of benefits, give money to the rich, and buy votes off the leisure class.
Gingrich clearly has no interest beyond serving the rich who pay him handsomely for his services. Same with Limbaugh, Coulter, etc. A good source of blatant illogic and downright lying is the opinion section of the Wall Street Journal. Bearing in mind this stuff is manufactured with the intent to deceive explains NewsMax, Human Events, World Net Daily. These guys are paid to lie and that is what they do. Agitprop is the name of the business. They agitate with their propaganda.
The only problem I have w/ your assessment is that I one day hope to go to law school....I would like to, myself, become a constitutional lawyer or something else related to policy. I know you are right about it...that's the problem w/ sophism and ethics writ large....I just wish you hadn't pointed it out so bluntly for my own sake (as if you could've known).
You are correct though. Like I said people will tip their hats at their true intentions: all you have to do is look for that tip. Dirtiness aside from my comment (sorry didn't think it through at first lmao) the truth is most Americans want to believe in the bull@!$%# they are fed and that's the whole problem. Most people want to believe they will be better off w/o government. It isn't until we're in Somalia that we realize the importance of our government. Thom Hartman has tried his hardest to explain this to people and they have vehemently disavowed him...the reason why is because he's presenting truth that they simply don't want to hear. And because they don't want to hear it they'd rather cloud themselves w/ the white noise. The sickest thing about Fox News is that they've realized people can be manipulated by talking points and as such they have deployed linguists to manipulate public thought and it has worked brilliantly. The saddest thing of all is that Fox has openly admitted to doing this and yet no one seemed to hear it. They've literally dumbed the populous to the point that the populous can be told "I'm killing you intentionally" and the populous will believe it.....it's like the episode from Firefly where Jayne is considered a hero. He was only considered a hero because he accidentally dropped money onto the town- had things gone as planned that wouldn't have happened. Yet when Jayne comes clean someone still jumps in the way of the bullet. Le sighs Covah, Le sighs.
i think people are easily swayed into believing that government should be small - very small - because they can't keep up with what it's doing.
I think it's because people naively think they have more power over a private company than a government....people literally think if they stop purchasing from Wal-Mart she will cease to exist. I think that's the whole problem
Mickey, I congratulate you on your desire to go to law school! I'm looking forward to you paying really high taxes and doing your duty to your fellow man! I hope you take the high road and only do pro bono work. You definitely shouldn't profit from your work! I admire your decision. Please, work hard and give that money away like a true moral person would!
no one said people shouldn't profit from their work. but there's a difference from profiting from it and being greedy from it....and also monopolizing with it.
I never said I would be upset to pay a 40% or even a 50% tax on my profit. That will not bankrupt me because in order to be levied that tax I will have to be in the top tier of income earners which already means I'm doing just fine. Millionaires do not deserve pity, although I sincerely doubt I will ever be a millionaire nor do I plan on becoming one. I'd rather work for the government as a defense lawyer for the state or work in law enforcement/for the military. But let's say they take that much from me when I'm making 100k/yr. Fine I will still be left with a little over 80 grand/yr. That's well above what the average American makes. That's enough for me to have a house, a car, and to do so in a populated area where I can be close to other gays. I do not see why I would whine about this. Taxing my income when I'm doing better is fair. I use the services the government provides me and I would not want to burden someone who makes as little money as I do now w/ something that I could take care of myself. I am a member of society and as a member of society I have a responsibility to take care of the people w/in my community. Taxes are just but one means of accomplishing this goal. The difference here is you are not mature enough to be a part of society and I am. I wasn't an only child and I matured past the age of 6. I don't know what the Ayn Rand generation's problem(s) is(are), but ya'll need to fix it and come to terms w/ reality.
America does not need another small mined old man to run our country!
A word of caution for anyone shaking hands with Newt. This just in from Wikipedia:
Most newts can be safely handled, provided that the toxins they produce are not ingested or allowed to come in contact with mucous membranes, or breaks in the skin.[7] After handling, proper hand-washing techniques should be followed due to the risk from the toxins they produce and bacteria they carry, such as salmonella.[8][9]
You are doing a disservice to Newts to mention them in the same sentence with Republican gasbags.
"and keeping government out of our private lives." I don't get this. How the F*ck Republican means keeping government out of our private lives? when ever since they got elected all they focused on is how to control our lives more and more.
In these few months since they took over congress they worked diligently to dictate women what to do with their uterus, tell schools what to teach children (Louisiana and Texas passed laws not to teach evolution and global warming, and in Tennessee you are forbidden to talk about gays in a classroom), force public employees to take drug tests without any suspicion of illegal drug use, forbid gays fro marrying, restrict freedom of speech (see the case of the Texas cheerleader), and the list of Republican privacy invasion goes on and on. Do these people who say Republicans are for small government live under a rock? or they are just F-ing total dumbasses? or America ("greatest nation in the world") is really that stupid? Which one is it?
Newt,Newt,Newt,
What in the world are you up to now ? A little more smoke and mirror's.. Or is it just show me the money..Not in my wildest dream's did I see this coming...
The clown's are starting to enter the tent.. I hear Ron Paul will be entering friday.
Bill, that thought,...... of Ron Paul entering WHO?... ewwwww, got to go wash my brain and try to get rid of these bad dream images!
Send in the Clowns.....don't bother, they're here!
at first, i was sure it was just the crack TRMS staff that had gotten to Newt's YouTube video right after it posted, judging by the meager 322 views, but i just checked it out a full day later and it's barely over 102,000.
Throughout his entire career, Newt Gingrich has pushed himself as a "family values" candidate, and was in the forefront in criticizing Bill Clinton for his affair with Monica Lewinsky. However, Newt is no model of virtue. He had a long affair with his high school geometry teacher, Jackie Battley, before they married and had two children. When she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery, he served her with divorce papers so he could marry Marianne Ginther. Gingrich then refused to pay child support and alimony. While criticizing Clinton for his sexual dalliances, Gingrich was cheating on Marianne (his second wife), who was then suffering from multiple sclerosis. He divorced her and shortly thereafter married the woman with whom he had been having a six-year-long affair, Calista Bisck. (She is 23 years younger than Newt.) Now Gingrich is claiming that his serial cheating (which included others along the way as well) was because he loved America so much.
Wrong, he criticized Clinton for perjuring himself. Which is illegal. How dare he!
Besides you guys adore Clinton and he's a serial womanizer!
Newt is a hypocritical dog.
How about him leading the charge to impeach Bill Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky thing, and at the same time cheating on his own wife?
He tried to impeach him for perjury. I don't know why people can't understand that.
yea yea, for perjury. No one cares. They went after Clinton because of some "social conservative/family values" schtick that was the rage at the time. Since it's not illegal to get a blow-job, they tried to get him for perjury. It was political theater, and that's all it ever was.
Gingrich is really good at being a politician, and really bad at being a leader, exactly because he's hip deep in affairs and shady deals and things that most people would consider unethical. He can't be taken seriously as a leader because he can't be trusted.
Oh and BTW, he's a hypocrite for preaching "family values" and acting all pious in front of the cameras while cheating on his wives.
@ John, so it's ok for a liberal to commit perjury? I mean he is a sex criminal. And he lied about it on the stand. I guess perjury is too hard a concept for you to understand. He didn't lie because of the blow job, he lied to keep himself from being convicted of a sex crime.
It mush be nice to not have any values, then when you act like scum you're not a hypocrite.
No, it's not OK for a liberal to commit perjury.
But we aren't talking about Clinton. We are talking about Gingrich. You make an excellent point, since he has no values, from his perspective he's not a hypocrite. On the other hand, I do have values and I generally use the definition of the word (via Merriam-Webster)
1) a person who puts on a false appearnce of virtue or religion
2) a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings
So no, I'm not going in for the flexible or existential morality thing.
Who, Clinton? What sex crime?
And what perjury? Tell me what business Mr. Clinton's private sexual conduct has to do with anything. In fact Mr. Clinton has every right to keep his private affairs to himself.
And it's disgusting that Republicans attack Clinton for not going after al Qaeda at the EXACT SAME TIME they were impeaching him for imaginary crimes.
Every Republican a POS!
because it's not true? gee, there's that liberal bias again.
You're right Covah, lying on the stand isn't perjury! I see the light.
And you're right, it's no one's business when you sexually assault a woman.
eap1 needs to get his facts straight. There were no credible sexual assault charges brought against Clinton.
The perjury charges by Republicans were brought because Clinton lied about his relationship with Lewinsky, which was in fact none of the investigators' business.
Let's see if eap1 can tell us what investigating the relationship between Mr. Clinton and Ms. Lewinski was besides a Republican political attack with a kangaroo court.
eap1 seems to think sexual matters are public. How bizarre.
Did he serve one of his wives with divorce papers when she was being treated with cancer. Does this mean if you are not perfect or defect free then you are not any use to Newt?
We haven't heard from him in a long time, to bad he didn't stay in his cave. Oops Oh yeah this is the right terrorist.
Not only did he have an affair........he broke the news to his wife while she was in the hospital fighting cancer...I stand by my early description of this fraud. Try to raise your standards out of the gutter.
Pit bulls have a mostly unearned lousy reputation, whereas Gingrich has worked a lifetime to deserve his reputation as a louse. I'm glad Rizos is supporting the better and more deserving of the two.
