In the course of researching the last segment of tonights show, Rachel found these amazing galleries of photos by Jamey Stillings of the construction of the bridge at Hoover Dam.

I'm missing geek week so much. It's been almost six months and I need more infrastructure geekery. Please please make it an abi-annual or a monthly event. Awesomeness^2
Just watched the podcast of last night's show. The final segment on American Awesomeness was so inspiring! Rachel's correct - true patriotism is about believing in the creativity, determination, and innovative energy of ... well, US! The anecdote about Gov Christie's retreat from that spirit clarifies the whole issue perfectly. Progressives know who the true patriots are and what they (we) need to be doing. ... We just need to announce it louder and "oftener"!
This looks a lot like the Bixby bridge near Big Sur, California.....awesome!
I have a fear of crossing bridges and a fear of heights, but those pictures are stunning. Don't think I'll be driving over it though. :)
After doing my job at "Area 51" I drove over to Kingman AZ to visit one of my cousins. I had no expectation about the road. I have driven all over this country, Key West to Fairbanks, and many places in between.
I was cautioned to expect delays at the Hoover Dam. That was fine with me because I intended to stop, and explore the bowels of the operation as far as they would let me. Lovely day, very low water. But the construction project, road and electrical transmission/transition actually intriqued me more. I am not a long distance trucker or speed freak. Soon I may just visit Nevada so I can drive over this fabulous accomplishment.
Notice, I shall not spend too much time in Arizona. I shall boycott for as long as it takes. My cousin can visit me at the Tillman Bridge.
Thanx again for what you are doing, nem
