Sharron Angle, the newly nominated Republican for Senate in Nevada, just got herself a new website, or at least the same old website with an awful lot of new blanks to fill in. Angle's site used to run on and on about her positions on the issues, from ending Social Security to deregulating the energy industry so they can drill more, now and everywhere.
Alas, the Angle who spoke her mind is no more, replaced by one who only wants your money. That's all you'll find on the new version of Angle's campaign website. The old sharronangle.com/issues? That takes you to the same appeal for money.
Credit Steve Benen of the Washington Monthly for noting the change, and for coming up with a theory:
Here's guessing someone at the National Republican Senatorial Committee gave Angle's team a call on Wednesday morning, demanding that the bizarre content -- reflecting the candidate's actual beliefs -- be taken down immediately.
Of course, the fact that voters can't go to Angle's site and learn a single thing about her isn't exactly a vote of confidence in her candidacy.
But let's not stop there, OK? We checked the source code for the new site and found this this curious link: http://cdn.sharronangle2.com/style.css. See that "sharronangle2.com" part? Now try http://sharronangle2.com -- voila! You go straight to the new version of the website, only with a more honest address. Because whoever came in and redid this page just launched Sharron Angle 2.0!
Fortunately, you can still get to know Sharron Angle 1.0 with the helpful help of Google caching. The group read is on -- hit the comments, please, with what you find. Ready, steady, go!
(Bonus points for code monkeys who pluck more jewels from the source code.)

Will be interesting to see what Sharron 2.0's issue positions end up being. Should be fun.
Sharron Angle, candidate. A woman barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild her . We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic candidate. Sharron Angle will be that woman. Better than she was before. Better, stronger, faster. With less substance. More ability to recite slogans on demand. Less body odor. Runs on a single battery for up to 5 full hours.
Good one, you need to include Palin in that thought!
David Frum:
http://www.frumforum.com/angles-scientology-problem
Frum does not explain why he concludes that Angle is not a Scientologist. Moreover, the potential quid pro cult remains.
That comment seems like Frum is saying, "She knows some Scientologists, but she sure isn't one!"
I do, however, find it funny that Republicans are calling the "cult" card on the Scientologists.
She sure likes saying her full name a lot. :)
I really want her to push her views on getting rid of Social Security and Alcohol. If that doesn't get her ridden out of NV on a rail (between the retired people and Las Vega Casinos) nothing will.
What a fix for the Gulf oil gusher! Just wrap her mouth around that broken pipe and filler 'er up! Maybe the oil will clean out the s--t she's been spewing! After her, Palin can take her turn!
People who seek to eliminate the Dept. of Education never explain what they will do with Title IV (federal student aid). Maybe eliminating Pell Grants and Stafford Loans is the point. No, this function cannot be passed to the states without tripling the administrative costs. Furthermore, the whole thing is dependent upon a centralized accreditation system which requires oversight. The accrediting agencies are, themselves, accredited by the US Gov. However they are made up of the member institutions. The process is essentially the same for Yale and your local beauty school.
Angle claims that the existence of ED is unconstitutional. I would love to hear her explain why.
None of the people who call for the elimination of the IRS, Department of Education, Social Security or the EPA ever say what they would replace them with, or how they would handle the vital functions those organizations play. Eliminate the IRS? Fine and dandy. Just tell me how you will fund things like the Department of Defense, military hospitals, etc. They have no answer, except to sometimes say "the government will figure out some other way to fund things", ( I actually heard that howler yesterday on here!). Are there duplicative government programs and agencies? Of course there are. Have some government agencies grown too large and wasteful. Once again, of course. But saying we must do a full scale elimination of many of these agencies is akin to saying you must let grandpa die because he has a hangnail.
Repubs are the Party of No, and the Tea Party is the Party of I Don't Know. If you want to be taken seriously, you have to do more than say you are against something. It is incumbent upon those who disagree with policies to present well-thought out alternatives to those policies. If you cannot or will not do that, then you deserve to be ignored, at best, and ridiculed, at worst. Ms. Angle's opinions are fine...we all have the right to our opinions...but if she is proposing things like the elimination of the IRS, then as a political candidate asking for voters to give her a job, she is bound to tell everyone how her policies would affect the lives of American citizens. If she cannot do that, or refuses to now say what her policies are, then she should gracefully exit stage right.
She thinks everything should be privatized. We should all just take care of ourselves without government intervention. Since she's running for a government position, we can assume she wants a government to exist. Otherwise she would be out of a job and out of money, herself. Of course, if there's no IRS then she's not going to get paid, anyway.
Let's just conclude, she's ignorant. No, that's too kind. Let's just admit; she's a stupid idiot with no solutions and no credence. I agree. Exit stage right. Gracefully, or shoved.
Considering our (unfortunately) governor in NJ - she would be his perfect running mate when he runs (or shuffles) in 2012. They could destroy the entire educational system in this country - and turn it over to religions or private corporations.
I LOVE the part where it says "Angle’s overall political philosophy is that proper government exists only by the consent of the governed and government must be restrained from intruding into the freedoms of its citizens" and later says that she worked to pass the "Protection of Marriage act"--in which the government enforces the idea that marriage can only be between a man and a woman, and that she introduced and supported "life-protecting" legislation: meaning that women's right to choose is inhibited by the government.
Oh! The hypocrisy :D
I must refrain from repeatedly ramming my head into my desk.
As well...I am involuntarily shoving my pencil in my eyeball!!!
Cate R ... your desk just called and said "thank you"
If you get to ask her, find out what the breakdown of years experience is on this nugget:
Sharron Angle has over 25 years experience as a teacher in public, private and home schools.
I bet it is 1/10 public school, 2/10 private school, and 7/10 homeschooling her own kids. Sorry but that just isn't the same as 25 years experience in a public school. No wonder she thinks the Dept of Ed should be eliminated.
If her kids share her philosophy, she probably had to home school them. They would flunk science, history, civics and physics. Anyone in this century who does not see and understand the effects of global warning and calls it "unscientific hysteria" is dangerous to the planet.
We, on this post, are dumbfounded at her presence, much less, her winning this primary. She is an insult to the system.
So, she's refusing funding from the casinos *and* the unions?
There's no way she can win in the state of Nevada by rejecting organized labor and the single biggest industry in the state, especially when she would mind returning to Prohibition (which the casinos are very much against).
She is not an attorney - not even Orly Taitz style. (BTW, take a look at Orly's website today ;-))
She wants to repeal HCR and claims that the MA system isn't working - huh? Yet, she asserts, without explanation:
She has this bizarre plan to turn Yucca Mt. into a nuclear recycling center. How she would do this from spent fuel rods remains unexplained.
Then there is this bit of delicious ignorance:
Not that I'm defending Orly Taitz (shudder) but I took a tour of the research reactor at my university and the engineer running the tour mentioned that the reaction only consumes a fraction of the material inside the fuel rods before by products contaminate it to a point where the rod is useless. They reclaim fissionable material in France. Here's an article from IEEE (technology standards organization). http://spectrum.ieee.org/energy/nuclear/nuclear-wasteland
Google "nuclear fuel reprocessing." It is actually something that we should be doing - the more radioactive something is, the more energy it gives off in a shorter period of time. "Waste" actually *is* fuel for more energetic reactions, material comes out of a nuclear reactor much more radioactive than it went in.
The main reason that the US produces so much nuclear waste is that, unlike other countries, we don't use it for fuel - because that would result in the very energetic material that could be used in weapons. It is a political decision (dating back to Ford), not a technological or scientific one.
Hmmmmm, I guess the Beta version had too many bugs in it...
What's wrong with trying to get donations for her campaign. Everyone does it. I hope Reid falls!
There's nothing wrong with trying to raise money for your campaign. The criticism here is that she has replaced a site that tries to raise money and says what she believes with one that only tries to raise money.
I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt: Considering that her reputation in the Nevada Assembly was someone who just voted "NO" each and every time-regardless of content-probably just means that she doesn't stand for anything. Nothing. Blank. Nada. Zero. So, in a sense, her new and improved website simply screams the truth. Nothing. Blank. Nada. Zero.
Geeze, all you libs will be crying and pissing and moaning when Angle DESTROYS that wuss Harry Reid.By the way,Rachels story last night on her was typoical Alinski.First speaking of the Birch society and then Angle as though she is a member.Just like Rachel fails in the ratings every single night and looks up at Hannity taking a dump on her,so sjhe will fail with both Paul and Angle.
Use your head, Billy, assuming you have one. The Tea Partiers, (who are backing Angle) have called Obama; Hitler, a Nazi, etc with signs and mustaches for months. If they're right, all of those right wing nuts could end up in front of a firing squad. If our governing is as bad as you portray, then why aren't you all hiding somewhere in Canada?
We, libs, have our problems. No one is perfect, but we, at least, have the decency to see the greater picture when it comes to preserving the American ideology. You know the one that says: We the people, in order to form a more perfect Union. What in the crap are you right wingers trying to form?
Actually, the Hitler images are from the Larouche crowd, they show up at Tea Party events, but hardly qualify as what I'd consider a Tea Partier, idealogically. Tea Partiers typically use the word "socialist" or "Marxist", which, ideaologically, he closely resembles. Assuming socialism is a sliding scale, even you guys surely admit he is on the far left of that scale. Tea Partiers are on the right of it.
You joke, but there are a lot of us who are immigrants from other countries. I was born in what was then Czechoslovakia, and have seen first hand what happens when a socialist country finds that it needs to control the masses. I don't think we're at that point yet, if you think mankind is incapable of such a thing, simple because they are citizens of The United States of America, then I'd have to say you might be a bit naive in the ways of man.
I believe we are each fighting to have this country's government reflect our own values and ideals. Like I said, you guys are down on the lower stations of the socialist radio dial, while we fight to move that dial back up. No need to leave the country just yet, because we can still get our way. However, as evidenced by the Russian brain drain of the cold war, I can guarantee that, if this country moves so far toward socialism that the achievers feel they are being taken advantage of to support the lazy and the dull, and not just the less fortunate (and that is beginning to happen in many people's minds) then the achievers in this society WILL do elsewhere. It is inevitable. That's just human nature. And if you think there won;t be any place for them to go, then consider that China and Russia have thrown off their socialist economies because they did work for THEM, and now welcome achievers with open arms and promises of wealth.
What we the Tea Partiers are trying to form is as close to a perfect union as we can get. One in which things like the TARP bailout, the GM takeover, etc.. are a thing of the past. It is insane that our government is so hellbent on social engineering that it keeps Fannie and Freddie as pets, lifts the cap on how much bailout money can flow into those institutions and then doesn't tighten the requirements for borrowers, which ensures that risky loans will be made. Right now, banks like Chevy Chase draw in the customer, they get basically a finders fee, then they turn around and sell the mortgage to Fannie or Freddie so they don't have to assume the risk. And since Fannie and Freddie have a girect line to unlimited taxpayer funds, they can go ahead and accept those risky mortgages, because, if the borrower defaults, they simply pass the loss onto the taxpayers. It is absurd. We want a country where idiotic setups like this are a thing of the past.
As for Sharron Angle, I like her record of service, but I agree that she needs to explain some of her views, and that's coming from a Tea Partier.
http://unrepentanttepartier.blogspot.com/
I believe that the bankers are at fault for giving the loans, knowing that they are giving it to someone who cannot afford it, but, once the owners foreclose, the bankers get to take it and sell it again, that's what went wrong. Yes, the borrowers should not have taken the loans, but the loans were given and not by gun point. This started under Bush, by the way, he made the loan process easy to abuse thus causing the topple. After the Bailout, which I don't know how I truly feel, again it was the banks screwing it all up. My daughter went through almost interrogations to get her loan which she and her husband were qualified for,so don't blame it on the borrowers trying for the DREAM, blame on the money people and their GREED, and they are still greedy!
She is now running on a one plank platform. Maybe that's all she thinks her constituents can understand.
Should anyone want to contact Ms. Angle directly (say for an interview), her email address is: angle@iglide.net (from the whois record for v1)
If I were to adopt a right wing tactic, I would simply state that Ms. Angle's views are "Un-American"
that is so true, and infact anyone who doesn't want anybody but the rich to be educated and healthy and have a future is truly un-american. We all need to succeed to make this country work, We need to make them stop using fear as a tactic.
Oh my gosh! This is hysterical.
It seems they're all the same:

What I simply do not understand is why we are not working to make things better. I know I live in a fantasy where everybody is good and helpful to each other and wants the world to be right, I was raised and firmnly believe in the Golden Rule, Karma, whatever you want to call it, but, I am tired of the hatred spewing forth in our country toward one another. I know that all the way back to the begining there has been corruption and pandering and lying, enough with it already!! We don't have much time left here to make it all right, but somebody has to start the right way to be, even if it is your own self, be nice to someone, help the old lady across the street, get the cat out of the tree. Then random acts of kindness really does mean something, why don't we value that any more. I am tired of the Republicans and their lying, greedy selves. Yes, yes, there are Dems. also out there are not perfect, but what's going on with the right is just awful. We must fix what is wrong together or else there is no point, no change will ever come, I am actually fearful for my grandchildren that are growing up so fast in such an uncertain world. We have to go forward, stop trying to pretend that the world is not connected, look at what we are doing, I don't know any of you, but we are conversing, because we are connected all around the world, it is too big to stop! It is amazing to me that there are so many people listening to each other, this is our oppurtunity to fix it and make this world better. Whew, that was cleansing!
From Angle's cached website: "Sharron Angle is qualified for a concealed weapons permit."
I want to know A) if she carries, B) WHAT she carries, C) Does she have an underarm or ankle holster, D) does she wear a kevlar vest? E) Pretty please with sugar on it, will she pose with Michelle Bachmann and Meg Whitman for a Charlie's Angels poster?
Sharron Angle believes in limited government and limited taxes to perform and administeressential public needs.
so - when in this country was healthcare / insurance not essential? does she think we all raise chickens??
Billy Mimnaugh (post #14) ... Is this really all you have? Thank you for adding to the overall conversation. SET! MATCH!
You see the connection between the never-ending contradictions of the "small government" rhetoric works ... ... right up to the point until they need some large-scale help (think Bobby Jindal - Oil spill, hurricane or "Mr. Secession " Rick Perry - H1N1 vaccines) or protection or tax-break or some un-founded "war" on something. And then all-of-the-sudden the Government isn't doing enough, or protecting enough, or giving enough.
When you stop for a moment and grasp that I do NOT need (nor do I believe it is EVER it's job) any government to EVER define or even give me ANY guidance in: who I can or can not marry (a contract between two people NOT any gov't) , what I eat, what I drink, what I smoke, where I live, what I think or what I learn.
Another one I just love is that the same person (read as: any conservative) that insist I "support the troops ... they defend our freedoms" tend to be the same person that also insist that they get to define these freedoms. Sorry that time is coming to an end.
See, the idea of liberalism is that You get to decide for YOU (as long as you don't infringe on an other's rights). The idea of conservationism is that I get to decide for YOU (as in I am not smart enough to decide for myself). Please understand that I don't need your help ... thanks
Agreed. But if I could add to the argument...Billy Mimnaugh..."I am rubber you are glue, whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you!"
Applause, applause, applause-why do they not see that we are not idiots here, I do not hold a Masters Degree, but, I know when I am listening to an idiot that wants me to vote for her/him when their ideas and statements are so stupid for the growing needs of our country.
vee take all schwein namen on dis thread. frau (m)engela ist das only choice!
"Alas, the Angle who spoke her mind is no more." Now that's the first rational description of Ms. Angle I've encountered. True, because she has no mind---just say'un!
